Computer Club Computers
Below is a list of the currently functioning machines within our office. In addition to to this there is an abundance of carcasses strewn about that may or may not be partially functional at any given time. Below is a list of the various machines and the services they offer to members and to the WMU Community.

About (Uber)Yakko
Yakko has recently been supercharged. What was once an AMD K6-233 is now an Athlon 1.2 Ghz with all SCSI drives and a CDRW. We were able to afford all this because of a generous grant from Western's Graduate Student Association.
Yakko offers a plethora of applications to its users, including unrestricted use of the many development tools available for Linux. Need to write a program for a class? Want to learn to program in a friendly, open environment? Want to run a program, only to discover that we don't already have it installed? Compile away or ask us to install it system wide, and don't hesitate to ask questions.
We're currently running Linux provided by the Kalamazoo Linux Users Group
The Cluster
The club has recently acquired a healthy supply of older computers. The donator would like to remain anonymous. The computers consist of 16 Dell GX1's and 10 Dell GX110's.
The GX1's are 450Mhz Pentium III processors with 64Mb of ram. They also have CDROM drives along with Zip drives. The integrated NIC.s have a wake from LAN option as well as a boot from PXE option.
The GX110's are better with a 850Mhz Pentium III processor with 256Mb or ram. They also have CDROM drives as well as Zip drives. Unlike the GX1.s these do not have the PXE boot option.
For the clustering software we have tried clusterknoppix and Quantian on the main node. These both use OpenMosix to distribute processing power across the nodes. The image we are using on the dumb nodes is called "Chaos" linux and is about 6Mb which we have modified to work with our setup.
