Vim, a powerful editor/IDE, is the most widely used vi clone today. In addition to the basic functionality of vi, (included in all UNIX/Linux systems) vim offers a wide variety of other functions that greatly help in software development including auto-indentation, color syntax highlighting and ctags (help you navigate from function to function within a software project).
