War driving
From Computer Club Wiki
War driving is the act of finding wireless access points (APs) in a geographic area. A common war driving setup normally consists of a laptop with a wireless network card and a gps reciever to record locations.
One might war drive only to find out where open APs are, "because it is there," as they say. Or one might war drive to gain access to the internet. War driving also describes the process of securing one's own premises against unauthorized access points, for example on the WMU campus, WMU employees might war drive to locate APs outside of the campus' AUP.
