    • My favorite type of computer game is the first-person shooter. This type of game is usually where many of the newest features in the 3D accelerated video cards are first put to use so there's always great eye-candy to be found. Mix that with the fact that I am a huge John Carmack fan and you get this Quake gaming page.

    Quake 3 Arena Single Player Stats
    From time to time I'll play online but more often than not I'm honing my skills in the single player portion of Q3A. Below you can see an up-to-the-minute display of my current Quake 3 awards. The cool thing about the display you're seeing below is that it is updated automatically whenever I play Q3A. After exiting from Quake my q3config.cfg file is automatically scp'd to the server where my homepage resides and when you view the page a PHP function I wrote parses that file and updates my Quake stats in the table below. What that means is I can play Q3 as much as I want and I don't have to worry about updating my webpage! It also means that you are always looking at my most recent Quake 3 stats.

    Another cool feature about the table below is that in most browsers if you hover your mouse over one of the graphics it will tell you which stat/award you are looking at and the exact amount of that award I have won (for example, if the table shows that I have 6k worth of frags, the mouse over will show that I in fact have something on the order of 6,656 frags). If you want to know more details about how I'm updating my Q3A stats send me an email and I'd be more than happy to explain. I can probably cough up some code too. Oh, and did I mention that I always play on Nightmare mode?

    Quake 3 Fragging Mix
    I used to listen to a large variety of music while playing Quake but over time I realized that in order to get in the zone for supreme fragging I needed the correct aural motivation. So here it is, my fragging mix. Slowly developed over time and constantly being refined and added to. Each song was chosen for one or more reasons, maybe someday I'll explain the reasons I've included each individual song. For now let's leave it at they all have a very intense sound that gets me in the mood for some major fragging.
